Bitdefender Mobile Security disconnects internet with IOS 26.6

Is there a way around the need to turn off the VPN in Mobile Security for IOS with this new update? This update is unhappy with the Mobile Security VPN and blocks or slows down connection with the internet via my modem. I'm hoping Bitdefender has an update to address this or maybe Apple has to address this problem if it a problem that is wider than Bitdefender.

I can recommend a few things to check in this case. I'm also using an iPhone with Mobile Security installed, so this would be my checklist for you:

First, after ensuring that both both iOS and the Bitdefender app are fully up to date, restart the iPhone. Restart your router as well. Also test the VPN while connected to a different Wi-Fi network or to mobile data. If it works normally there, the problem is likely specific to the interaction between the VPN and the home router/ISP connection.

In the Bitdefender VPN settings, change the VPN protocol from Automatic to WireGuard or IKEv2, reconnect, and test again. If one protocol behaves normally while another does not, I think that would point to a protocol/network compatibility issue..

Check Settings → General → VPN & Device Management on the iPhone and make sure there are no additional VPNs, filtering apps, or other VPN configurations that could conflict with BMS.

If the problem persists, remove and reinstall the Bitdefender app so that its VPN configuration is created again from scratch. As a final troubleshooting step, you can reset the iPhone's network settings under Settings → General → Transfer or Reset iPhone → Reset → Reset Network Settings. Keep in mind that this will also remove saved Wi-Fi networks and passwords.

It is also worth mentioning that there's a particularity between Web Protection and the VPN. On iOS, Web Protection basically uses a VPN profile to filter traffic, and this operating system does not allow it to operate simultaneously with another VPN tunnel. This means that the two features can only be used one at a time, as explained in this article.

If the VPN works on mobile data or another Wi-Fi network but consistently fails on your home connection after the iOS 26.6 update, I would recommend contacting Bitdefender Support and providing the device model, Mobile Security app version, router/modem model, ISP, and the VPN protocol being used. Those details should help determine whether this is a compatibility issue introduced by the recent iOS update, or something else.

For the moment, I wouldn't assume that either iOS or Bitdefender is definitively at fault until the behavior is reproduced across more devices/networks, but the timing certainly makes the iOS update worth investigating.
