Firewall protection keeps turning off

Question

Hi -  In my Total Security, Firewall protection won't stay ON.  I keep getting pop-up alerts that neither Bitdefender nor Windows firewalls are on.

I'm not all that computer savvy so I'm hoping there is an easy fix for this or a tech number I could call so, if it's really complicated, they could take over my computer and fix it.  (I did search around online but everything I saw was wayyyyy beyond my ability.  Thanks!

If you're not comfortable in editing the registry, if it would get to that point, maybe a reinstall/repair would help? Otherwise, you have @Alexandru_BD link to continue with :)

Ethernet is a standard technology used to connect devices on a local network using cables. For example, when you connect your computer to your router with a network cable, you're usually using Ethernet.

In simple terms, Ethernet is the most common way of creating a wired computer network. It can connect your PC to the internet through your router, but Ethernet itself is the local connection technology, not the internet itself. So it's fine, you don't need to change anything there.

Anyway, if the firewall is actually switching itself off inside the Bitdefender interface, rather than Windows Security merely reporting it as disabled, I would check the Base Filtering Engine service first, because the firewall relies on the BFE and Windows Filtering Platform. Follow the instructions from this article:

This should normally solve it.. If it doesn't, I will have to redirect you to Bitdefender Support for more advanced troubleshooting.

Hi Alexandru - Well, from Step 1, I encountered a problem.  I somehow lost the Windows Security Center.  When I did finally get it back, none of the examples had the same names.

I went through all the instructions matching what my computer showed to what the only help showed.

I thought this might be a clue - haven't seen it before…I don't think.'
