Bitdefender Security Widget Community Poll

With the rollout of the new Bitdefender experience, some of you have noticed that the familiar Security Widget is no longer available. We’ve already seen quite a bit of feedback about this change, and several community members have told us that the Widget was an important part of how they interacted with Bitdefender on a daily basis.
For those who used it, the Widget offered more than just a shortcut to the main interface. It provided an at-a-glance view of the device’s security status, showed scan and update activity, surfaced notifications and even allowed files and folders to be quickly scanned by dragging them onto the Widget.

But we’d like to hear from a wider group of users.

How important is the Security Widget to you, and would you like to keep it?

Your feedback will help the development teams better understand how the Widget was being used, what value it provided and how much interest there is in having this type of functionality available in the new Bitdefender experience. I use the wiglet everyday, depending on it to quickly tell me that I am protected and like the fact that it indicates that an update is being checked for and that an update is being done. . I do not go anywhere until I see the wiglet is active. A very useful tool in my opinion and my question is how will I know is something is happening without it, will it be replaced with a similar option or are we going to be the dark when updates are being done. If it is removed I may not renew my security with Bitdefender so please keep the Wiglet. For me it is one program that was offered and set Bitdefender above other security programs.

As for myself, everything mentioned in the "Bitdefender Security Widget features" category are my favorite features, including a desktop file I dropped into the Widget to scan about an hour ago.

@Alexandru_BD when we allow the Products reports to be enabled in the app Settings - Advanced, does it send more than just the cyber threats encountered, or also usage statistics, settings used, and maybe even if the Widget was enabled? Do they have any of that information on their, the developers end? Or, don't enough people keep it enabled for privacy sake to get a full picture idea of how the app is used?

The widget is an integral part of my desktop since the beginning, allowing me to easily see that the protection is active and that everything is going well. After browsing the web, I can access the notifications with one click and read the details about the pages for which I received warnings and the reasons why. (By the way, BT may be a bit too sensitive regarding certificates because it always flags safe websites.) I know when BT is updating without having to click, and I can easily access the shortcuts or the main window with one click.

For the poll to be relevant, it is important to promote it through your newsletter and other communication tools. Given that we are already forced to defend a need and a tool that I believe are absolutely essential to a security suite, I wouldn’t want you to be thinking behind the scenes, “Let’s not bother with the widget—only five people use it anyway...” 🧐

Hi and thank you for voting here and for sharing your opinon. I've created the poll specially for the community members, however, the development teams are actively collecting feedback from several sources, including Support inquiries on this topic, and once we gather sufficient material here, I'll make sure this poll reaches them as well. We'll see then if it's necessary to expand the collection area, but I think it's becoming clear that the Widget remains useful and of interest, so we got the picture.

Of course, the decision on whether or not to reintroduce it still rests with the development teams, and I am hopeful that, following the feedback received, they will reach a favorable conclusion, but I cannot issue any guarantees now. I think the outcome may also also depend on other aspects related to the architecture of the new application and its further development, but let's see what happens.

I allowed the widget when I first got BD, but quickly turned it off and haven't used it since. It just gets in the way on my screen. I don't use it and will not miss it.
