Why is Bitdefender sending me to a French website?

60% of the citizens in Belgium speaks Dutch (99.9% similar to the Netherlands). The rest is divided over mostly French and a few % German. When Bitdefender pops up something in Windows 11, it sends me to a French site (I speak / read Dutch, German, English and speak some other languages, but no French). My system settling is even English. Why are you sending to a language that is a minority in Belgium?

We know that websites may use different localization mechanisms, such as regional settings, browser language preferences, cookies storing previous language selections, language-specific links, etc. However, I cannot confirm which of these is responsible in your particular case, without without a thorough investigation. But I guess we could make a few assumptions.

I would check the following:

• First, your browser language preferences. Check the preferred languages configured in your browser and ensure that English or Dutch appears at the top of the list. This may influence the language displayed by websites that support browser-based language detection.
• Then, Bitdefender Central language. Sign in to Bitdefender Central and check your selected language using the language selector at the bottom of the left-side menu. Both English and Dutch are supported.
• Next, the Bitdefender app language: Open Bitdefender, navigate to Settings → General → Change Language, and verify that your preferred language is selected. Keep in mind that this controls the UI and does not necessarily determine the language of external webpages.
• And last but not least, check the saved website preferences: Try opening the affected link in a private/incognito browser window to see whether the behavior persists. This can help establish whether previously saved website preferences or cookies are involved.

Going forward, I think there's something that requires clarification: when you mention that Bitdefender sends you to a French website, does this happen when you click a notification or recommendation inside the Bitdefender app? For example, are you redirected to a French-language support article, a product information page, or a promotional offer?

If possible, please share the address of the webpage you're being redirected to, along with the notification or button that takes you there. This would help us determine whether the French-language destination is predefined in that particular link or whether a language preference or regional redirect is involved.
