New laptop . Problem using standard VPN

Hello.

I just set up my new laptop and the first thing I tried to install is Bitdefender Total security.

BTS set up just fine and the VPN software appeared to do likewise seamlessly.

But the service will not allow me to connect my VPN. I have internet service obviosuly, because that is how I downloaded the Bitdefender software. There is a message that I need to upgrade to premium so I can use any country's VPN. I don't need that. I just need to be set up in the USA, where my ISP is and where I sit.

I have a desktop using the same service, along with my other devices, including my wife's Iphone laptops, etc. and my Iphone. I have not exceeded the allowed number of devices for total security. do I need to pay extra for more VPNs? I don't know how to check my allowed 200 MB/day limit, but I have never exceeded it before.

Please advise. I need this quickly.
