Trojan.swizzer.gen.8

BitDefender keeps going crazy, saying that completely legit files are infected with this Trojan.Swizzer.Gen.8. I'm not worried just because I still have control over my system. Once symptom is that the time keeps resetting although that one could be my BIOS just because I just tried Linux...

I've found someone else on another forum stating that BitDefender is also going crazy with this virus. Is this a false positive or not?

I'm running a scan now, its been going for an hour and a half and has found 29 infections. Also running MBAM side-by-side. Its been running for 40 minutes and has found nothing...

I'm in the same exact boat as you are. I've done several scans with different companies, and none of them come up with anything. The funny thing is though, is that when they scan over certain files (like you said, legit ones), it sets off Bitdefender's pop-ups as if something is being run. So I'm not sure on this one, but I'm hoping it's a false-positive, as I also have several littered about my files. Any insight would be great, so keep me updated on anything you find!

I am also having the same problem and this affects my VPN as Bitdefender thinks the exe files that runs the VPN is trojan.Swizzor.Gen.8. Anyone has a solution to this?

Well -- I thought was slightly computer literate -- but I have had a very bad morning. I got hit with this also --- but I could not even find "bit Defender" on my computer to do the update! On my compuetr it is called "Shield Deluxe" -- I assume the same thing? If I do a full scan from Shield Deluxe it will take 1.5 hours. I am running it now just scanning EXE files. Why the heck wasn't this BLOCKED in the first place by this "protection?"

Also...don't mean to complain -- but when I wrote to Bit Defender support, they said they'd respond within 48 hours -- my computer could be fried by then ~smile~ . I assume Bit Defender people monitor this forum (thank God I found it) and read this --- My emails from them ALL say Shield Deluxe and never even mention Bit Defendfer -- even my registration key is in an email that never mentions the words Bit Defender.

Anyway -- enough complaining -- I hope this forum helps me -- I am running WIN-7 64 Uktimate and so far that swizzor worm is still swimming around inside my HP computer -- I THINK I have downloaded the latest update and am running the scan -- I hope it purges it and from this point on protects me from it.

Any words of advice will be appreciated here,

Wow that was fast. Way to go BD Malware team. Also as an end note, the scan finished with nearly 100 infected files. MBAM said there were none. Thanks for the update BD Team.

I have the same problem. I scanned my computer and it was said that there was a Trojan.Swizzor.Gen 8. I tried to delete it but bitdefender couldn't do it (disinfection failed). Then, I updated bitdefender the next day, I was surprised that the trojan wasn't there anymore.

I am not really sure what is going on? I hope that you or someone can explain it to me. Because I have to make sure that my computer system is clean and the trojan is really not there anymore.

This was a false detection which was fixed in the same day,this is the reason why the files are no longer detected (which is normal).

If your BitDefender is up to date you shouldn't have any more problems.
