Hi, I recently found a folder on one of my external back up hard drives containing numerous program exe files that were full of Viruses, backdoor trojans etc, which I'm trying to get help with on another forum, but I just can't get any straight answers to my questions, but thats another story.
I mention this because I was using Bitdefenders online scanner to check all my drives for infections, after setting the options to not delete but only to report, the scanner detected this in a text file on all my partitions and external drives that contained it: online scanners.txt Infected with: Generic.Qhost.DE36A241.
As the scanner deleted every copy of this file I can't send it to be tested to see if it was a false positive, this happens every time with Bitdenfenders online scanner no matter what settings I set. Can a txt file contain a virus like this, the extension is txt, the txt file was made by me with notepad so I could simply copy and paste the url of what ever scanner I needed.
I may still have one copy left, this is on a portable hard drive used to back up my data so I can try and clean my computer of the infections mentioned at the start, if they have indeed infected my system. As I don't want to risk infecting that drive I really need help with this and just some straight answers to other questions regarding infections on my external hard drives, can anyone point me in the right direction, thanks
