Picked up a nasty bit of malware today... It calls itself Vista Defender
There is an ave.exe associated with the virus as well and it keeps attempting to access the internet... When ave.exe is running (I can me kill it using windows task manager) it refuses to allow internet explorer to access the internet - which i don't normally use - gotta love opera
when Vista Defender is running it automatically does scans and reports pretty much everything as a false positive (ATI catalyst control center, Internet Explorer to name a few) and quarantines them. I am doing a virus scan right now with BD2010. So far it hasn't found any problems
I should also like to point out that when bitdefender reported ave.exe trying to access the internet it reported the file as clean but I don't trust random files that suddenly attempt to access the net without any user input from me (like when I go play a new cpu game)
Any ideas on how to fully remove this sucker?
I'll report back once my virus scan is completed
