Exploit.pdf-js.gen

Every time I try to use the windows help and support from start tab to get to windows update, I receive a alert from bitdefender that the Exploit.PDF-JS.gen has been blocked from some bizare location, I hit the ok button and the window for help and support will flash and then disappear. It used to show as unable access web address as the error, but now it disappears altogether. I have tried to use bitdefender to download and install the windows updates but they also fail now. The error from Microsoft says that it is some proxy setting is wrong. I have no proxy settings set for my internet, so I am assuming this is part of this virus. I noticed this starting to happen back on 3/1/2010 we my kids downloaded a pdf file without me knowing. Why bitdefender did not scan this file for the virus I don't know. I have deleted the file my self after a search of the temp directories. I have keep bitdefender up to date so there was no reason it should have gotten thru. I know Adobe was a version 8 which had the exploit problem, but I upgraded to version 9. Then I noticed that windows was not updating from bitdefender and then I tried from help and support window and got the alert. This is the second virus that has gotten on my PC and bitdenfender is not stop it, and it appears it can not clean it up. I ran multiple scans which came up with no issues or virus's. I had to clean up the last virus by myself since it was mutated in the registry and I found all the related file names and deleted the registry entries manually.

You really need to clean up the registry and not just delete the files associated to a virus. I am ready to get another anti-virus if this company can not fix my windows update issue from this virus.

As a matter of fact, I found Exploit.PDF-JS.gen also yesterday, from the source i-k-l-m-n.org/nnw/pdfNode.php. It was blocked, but wasn't quarantined. Although I didn't notice anything peculiar with the functionality of Win XP (at least not yet), it seems to me it might just have affected the functionality of BD TS 2010. I made a post on this issue today. I am curious as to how you managed to find and delete this file in the first place ???

I did a search on any new pdf files as of 3/1/2010 and found it in a temp directory under my kids account. So I knew they must have tried to look at something and it downloaded to the temp directory. The problem here is that bitdefender did not find the virus before it got on the computer and unfortunatly I was still running a version 8 adobe reader with the expliot bug in it. The automatic update stopped working as of 3/1/2010 failing every time it trys to install a patch. So now I have a system that can not be patched and still has some sort of this virus still present when I try to access help and support in windows. This is the second virus in a year that has gotten on this computer and bitdefender can not remedy it. The last one I had to manually remove all mutations of the virus that bitdefender did not do. I also searched and remove the registry entries that was executing hidden files that would access web sites and redownload that nasty fake virus detector that also blocked anti-virus software on every level. It was the worst virus I had to deal with. I credit bitdefender with an excelent job of doing nothing to fix my computer. I am going out this weekend to find another anti-virus software that actual removes virus rather than just identifing them?? I no longer have confidence in this company to correct virus problems. I have had to do so much work to fix my pc after infection that should have been detected before the damage is done. I have read some reviews that the support team is not up to par with fixing problems with the software or helping customers with infected computers. I have first hand knowledge of this fact and again I have to run multiple scans using different software in safe mode and send back results. The automatic reporting and sending of quarantined files is useless. Support told me they could not get those files and they are sent to some other part of the company. This is unacceptable!! I could rant for another half hour about everything I have to do, but my time is limited and I can't do all these scans to get no results like the last virus I got. So bitdefender this is strike 3, <img class= " /> since my last support email has not been responded to again. Maybe some day this company will get back on track, but I can't wait that long.

I found the solution to the problem. I got Norton and installed it and magiclly it found the virus and got rid of it and 5 others BD did not find. So good bye BD it was not a good ride and I won't be back.
