Win32.kme.based.3.gen

As the topic suggests i got this little varmint in my system, since i went to 2010 i have had 3 hits from trojans and this this week alone. Apparently this got into my borderlands.exe. I got no warning about this being here or quarentined and have since ran the file without realising it 3 times.

The file won't send from quarentine and it still shows up on the drive with bit defenders deep scan telling me the system is clean.

To state the obvious question : What the heck is going on?!?!

Shoulda stayed with 2009, had nothing but problems with 2010 :rolleyes:

I didn't quite understand what's happening on your system.

To make it straight: you have a file borderlands.exe that BitDefender detected as infected with the detection from the topic title. Then it quarantined it, but it still remained on the drive? And now it appears clean on scan? Or you restored it from quarantine and now it appears clean on scan?

Please also post the original location of the file. If possible, please also put the file in a password-protected archive (with the password infected), upload it on a file sharing server of your choice (such as www.sendspace.com ) and send me the download link by PM.

I'm not sure either anymore, the file is apparently in quarentine according to bitdefender, i've tried to send it, it says not sent even though the process was successfull. Apparently the file is still on the drive as i've unbknowingly played the game a few times since it was quarentined. Only thing that might be is that it's played through steam and if it was moved, steam may have just downloaded the missing file again.

Going to try and delete the quarentined file and see what happens, if steam downloads it again i'll know bit defender didn't move it and has allowed me to use and infected file. If it doesn't download i'll know it was moved and i haven't been using the infected file.

Soon as i get my Raid0 floppy encoded i intend to do a full formatt. Should get rid of all the problems.

As to whether i use 2010 on the fresh install or use my 2009 disc, i'll have to make up my mind.

Thanks for the quick response, sorry to waste your time but i decided to formatt late last night after a driver related BSOD.

Did you format the drive yet? If not, please let me know what operating system you use. I'd like you to send me the quarantined files (not through BitDefender's interface, but directly the quarantine files). But in order to tell you the exact location, I need to know what operating system you use.

Also, please note that all BitDefender versions (including 2009 and 2010) have the same antivirus engine. So basically, if one detects a file, the other detects it as well, with the same detection name. If you have a detection problem, switching versions won't solve anything. Instead you need to submit the suspicious file for analysis, to clarify the situation.
