[resolved]What Is Pchooklaunch32.exe

Under the processes tab in task manager I have pchooklauncher32.exe running. The properties tab says it is part of Bitdefender 2011. Can anyone reassure me this is legitimate.

Its not in AntiVirus, 32bit or 64bit. Its only in Internet Security or Total Security as it is associated with the Parental Control module.

    Which are you running?

  • 2011 internet security

  • FYI, I uninstalled 2011 and this also disappeared from the task manager and reappeared when I re-installed.

  • Hi ssh8on

The process " pchooklauncher32.exe" is legitimate process of Bitdefender. For reference kindly check the attachment.

    Regards,

So what is it's specific purpose? I have the PC module turned completely off, and the AV is set to minimum. Using Internet Security '11. Didn't have this in '10.

  • Hi,

The specific purpose of pchooklaunch32/64.exe is to filter the traffic in the Parental Control module in order to properly use the options within the Parental Control such as: Web control, Application Control, Keyword control or Instant Messaging control.
