Good Evening.
I have a laptop working on Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit, and I have recently gotten a virus: Everytime I turn on my computer and Windows starts up, an error message pops up saying the Windows found a critical error and is going to restart in one minute. This always happens so I don't really have a chance to do anything about it during one minute.
I tried restarting at safe mode with network enabled, but the exact same thing happens. The odd thing is that when I start at normal safe mode (no Internet) theres no error and I can stay all the time I want on the computer. I took advantage of this to perform a scan with AVG, which acused multiple viruses and deleted them, and then cleaned it a bit with CCleaner, but the problem persists.
Other details about the virus:
- Sometimes when I start the windows a window pops up asking for permission to run an application called cmd.exe;
- Sometimes AVG acuses a virus at windows start, but doesn't take care of him because it shuts down after one minute;
- There is always a window at windows start-up asking permission to restore an .exe file (just like when you delete something and it goes to the recycle bin, and you go there and open it's properties and you have the option to restore it) but my bin is empty so it is kind of confusing.
Note that the details I just told you only happen when I start windows normally or safe mode with Internet connection; Normal safe mode runs fine, So I'm guessing it is a virus that pops up when the computer has internet?
Is there anything else I can try to fix this before I format my computer? (which is something I don't really want to do right now). I'm typing this on another computer, so I was thinking of downloading one of the best anti-virus here and install it on my laptop and run a scan at safe mode...
Please give me some feedback here.
Thanks in advance.
