Strange Thing Related To Firewall
Hello.
I see a strange thing in BDIS 2011 firewall.
My settings : Network type public, Stealth ON
With this settings, in BDIS 2010 my computer was totally stealth in my network, don't see any computer.
In 2011 version, with same settings, i see other computers in the netwotk. I guess they see me.
I'm not stealth. Why ?

Hi mitza97
@ i see other computers in the netwotk. I guess they see me.
You are right I also verify that my PC can be seen and browse/accessed on network even if I select Stealth Mode to ON. I also disable "Internet Connection Sharing Option" in Firewall Advanced Settings but the said problem remains. Even I can also see my PC in "My Network Places---View workgroup computers".
I'm using BD Total Security 2011 Ver 14.0.23.312 with Windows XP Home Edition SP3, 32bit.0 -
Hello,
The columns in the Network Configuration table provide detailed information on the network you are connected to and allow you to configure the connection settings:
Adapter - the network adapter your computer uses to connect to the network or the Internet.
Network Type - the type of network the adapter connects to. Depending on the network adapter configuration, BitDefender may automatically select a network type or prompt you for more information.
Change the type by clicking the arrow from the Network Type column and selecting one of the available types from the list.
Trusted (Allow All): Disable the firewall for the respective adapter.
Home/Office: Allow all traffic between your computer and computers in the local network.
Public: All traffic is filtered.
Untrusted (Block All): Completely block network and Internet traffic through the respective adapter.
Stealth Mode - whether you can be detected by other computers.
- On: Stealth Mode is on. Your computer is not visible from both the local network and the Internet.
- Off: Stealth Mode is off. Anyone from the local network or the Internet can ping and detect your computer.
- Remote: Your computer cannot be detected from the Internet. Local network users can ping and detect your computer.
Considering the above I would say that no, the other computers can not see you with the Stealth mode on. Try to play with the Firewall / Network / Stealth settings and let me know of the results.

Hi DanyDan
I try different settings of Firewall and Stealth Mode and found that my system is visible on network although not ping/accessed, but at the same time I can't see/accessed/ping other computers on network and I've to disable/enable Firewall.
Also I faced an other issue that Firewall is not detecting my network adapter automatically even on the Windows bootup, I've to disable/enable my network adapter to be detected by Firewall.
The snapshot of my current settings and adapter related issue are attached.0 -
No solution for this problem yet ?

Hello,
mitza97:i see other computers in the netwotk. I guess they see me.
What you mean by 'you guess', any tests made to confirm the issue ? The stealth mode is only one way meaning your computer will be stealth but not the other computers in your network.
ONT: I have sent you an email to further investigate this matter. Consider it as last warning: posting in a topic that is NOT related to the issue you are facing is not allowed. Continue doing it will results in having your posting option disabled.

Hi DanyDan
I think you are talking about the issue I mentioned "Firewall is not detecting my network adapter..... ", which was actually occur while playing with the Firewall / Network / Stealth settings as you instructed, but at present this issue is no longer occur however the actual subject issue started by "mitza97" remain my system is visible on network although not ping/accessed with Stealth Mode ON.
So I can't reproduce missing network adapter problem now in order to create the file you instructed in email.0 -
