Threats Detected After Reformatting

My first virus scan after reformatting immediately turned up six infected files in the appdata\roaming\microsoft\windows\cookies folder that it labeled fastclick, webtrends, 2o7, webtrendsST, and doubleclick and promptly blocked access to them. Any chance these are false?

Unfortunately Bitdefend decided that was corrupted an unreadable so it is lost.

Since then two scan before midnight turned up 3 (also lost though not sure how) and 2 infected cookies. Since the Bitdefender update at around midnight it has not detected any infected files.

I'm continuing to get these reports in scans occasionally. I would love to know if its just false positives or if I have a serious problem since bit defender can't find where they're coming from.

They are not false positives,you have a number of sites that you visit and they are creating those cookies without your knowledge.

You can setup your browser to stop them.

For this you need to go in Control Panel - Internet Options -Privacy - Advanced .

Block First and Third party cookies and Allow session cookies.

Maybe you'd better use Firefox with ABP and noscript modules , Ccleaner Ccleaner to clean internet, cookies, temp files... and above all avoid any sites that could endanger your system.

Caution is the best antimalware process.
