25 Viruses Found In 25 Cookies

A scan finds 25 viruses found in 25 cookies....then removed by bitdefender.

Because of the large amount I start a new scan immediately.

Again 5 viruses found in 5 cookies.

Next day 125 viruses found in 125 cookies. (!??)

Have removed Total Security 2010 and installed other anti-virus software, result, 0 virus found.

Then installed Total Security 2011, result, again 10 viruses found in cookies. (Also with 2011 version...)

A Deep scan and Full scan do find viruses. A Quick scan not.

This is going on since sept.21.

A 2nd license on 2nd (separate, new) Pc has thesame.

The reason there are threats found at a Deep system scan but not when doing a Quick scan is because there are two different types of scan. The first one is the most complex, the other one is a lighter scan type.

System tasks - contains the list of default system tasks.

The following tasks are available:

Full System Scan

Scans the entire system, except for archives. In the default configuration, it scans for all types of malware other than rootkits.

Quick Scan

Quick Scan uses in-the-cloud scanning to detect malware running in your system. Running a Quick Scan usually takes less than a minute and uses a fraction of the system resources needed by a regular virus scan.

Auto-logon Scan

Scans the items that are run when a user logs on to Windows. By default, the autologon scan is disabled.

If you want to use this task, right-click it, select Schedule and set the task to run at system startup. You can specify how long after the startup the task should start running (in minutes).

Deep System Scan

Scans the entire system. In the default configuration, it scans for all types of malware threatening your system's security, such as viruses, spyware, adware, rootkits and others.

I will move the topic in the Malware section where it should have been created in the first place (read our forum rules - you can find a link in my signature) and a colleague of mine will deal with it in the shortest time possible.

Thanks, Applied, I Blocked "First and Third party cookies" and "Allowed session cookies".

Result: No more Infected Items.

The default Cookie settings from both Vista and Windows7 are (where in my case) "allow first and third party cookies".

so, will Bitdefender update the anti-virus software to meet the standard settings of Vista and Windows7?

result: Some websites are no longer accessible.

So settings must be changed and are now accept direct cookies, block thirt party cookies, cookies per session allowed.

So, still "infected cookies"...

Because I also have this on a 2nd pc, more people must have this problem.

Had these "virusses"in cookies messages since weeks. Now my pc is blocked. Had to buy a new pc. Dont know if this is the reason or something else.

On my other pc these messages keep on comming.

These cookies are detected and removed by BitDefender mostly for privacy reasons and they can easily be ignored by the user.

There are other bad viruses out there that can block the PC but not to the extent of having to replace the machine.
