I recently installed BitDefender Antivirus 2011, but unfortunately I already had a virus before doing so. The virus seems to be keeping BitDefender from completing a full scan. When I run the "Documents Scan" it will get about 90% done and then get stuck on a file called "vbe6.dll" and freezes up. It shows that it is scanning zero items per second and it stays here until I force shut down on my computer (I've waited over 30 minutes with the screen like this and nothing happens. When this happens it also freezes the rest of the computer as well). I also am unable to complete a virus scan with BitDefender as well. My product has been registered and everything so I don't know what's going on.
When I do restart my computer I get several error messages as well, which I suspect are because of the same virus/malware that is keeping my bitdefender from completing a scan. The error messages I received upon starting up are as follows:
1) I receive numerous error messages about .dll files in my C:\windows\system32 folder stating that "...dll is either not designed to run on windows or has not been installed properly" (or something similar to that. I can't remember it verbatim).
2) "Windows Desktop Manager has stopped working." My PC will then "look for a solution" and find nothing.
3) "IDT PC Audio has stopped working."
4) "taskeng.exe has received an incorrect command" and i have the option to either stop the program or ignore it. When I try to ignore it the message keeps popping up until I finally click "close."
This problem has been persisting for a few days and I can't figure out what is wrong or how to fix it. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Mark
