Help With Possible Virus/trojan

Can any one help me?

Recently I shut down my netbook only to not be able to turn it back on. I have no clue what happened. Now when I press the power button it instantly goes to a black screen flashing an underscore. _

It gets stuck there and does not boot any more.

So what I did was pulled the hard drive out of the infected netbook and plugged it into another netbook so I could scan the hard drive for viruses. Well I have used several programs to scan it and nothing pops up. But the weird thing is that when I hook up the infected hard drive to my other netbook 2 drives pop up under My Computer-Hard Disk Drives. and E: and if I click on either one bitdefender pops up saying it has blocked rootkit.tdss. other times it says rootkit.win32.tdss. Iv used other programs and similar stuff happens but nothing can disinfect it. When I scan though, nothing pops up. Im guessing its a really difficult virus to remove since it cant even be located by some on the top Virus Scans.

I recently used a different software and it picked up win32/olmarik.ada trojan

Could those things picked up cause my netbook to not boot up and get stuck flashing _?

Does anyone know what I can try or how to fix this issue? I have several files I dont want to loose on the infected hard drive.I have searched for hours and cant seem to find any solution. Any help will be highly appreciated.

It is not a good idea to install several antimalwares on the same system to check a hard disk, however it is a good idea to put the hard disk on an external link to another computer that is well protected with updated antimalware.

Right, rootkits are the latest malware gimmicks to use loopholes in the system.

BD IS 2008 already had an antirootkit program, but the latest malwares can be stronger, who knows?

I do not know netbooks, it could be a hardware failure as well, or do netbooks have a frailer protection?. However if you find several malwares on your system, you could check first your surf habits... <_<

Plug the infected hard disk on another system well protected - with a sandbox? -(yours or a friend's) and save your personal files (no exe file).

Thanks for the reply. Well I kept reading about certain programs that would help me so I kept trying. I would delete the previous software first before I would install the other suggestions though.

It all started with my brother telling me there's a website where you can watch movies for free so I googled it. One of the results was a yahoo answer link and it had a bunc of links to different sites, clicked on one, and my anti virus went crazy. That's when it told me I needed to reboot to reset my antivirus and when I did...boom, computer wouldn't boot. Last time I click on unknown links..sheesh, what a headache.

Oh, and what I ment about pullin the hard drive out of one netbook and hooking it up to the other was I used a hard drive reader or whatever they are called. One cable that hooks up to the hard drive is for power and the other cable that hooks up to it has a USB on the other end that plugs into the working netbook. Make sense? Sorry If not, I'm a noob and don't really know all the correct terms lol.

Yes ,if you can check the suspicious hard disk (mounted internal or external) with an external program it's fine, provided that antimalware programs are stronger than the malware.

You could try if it is possible, I don't know, I've never used netbooks. I just do it with hard disks from desktop computers, the principle is the same, the small hardware is probably different.
