"svchost.exe Has Been Terminated..." Please Help!

This harkens back to an earlier post - and it seems I have to start a new topic to get some notice.

Two months ago installed BitDefender 2011 and after a couple of days and yesterday I started to get this message appearing constantly every 30 seconds:

"svchost.exe has been terminated because it was deemed harmful by Active Virus Control"

I ran a scan and nothing came up.

Is this a false positive?

If it is and nothing to worry about, how do I stop the reporting as it is driving me mad constantly my attention being drawn to the bottom right corner of the screen.

It seemed OK for a while, sort of OK, but please read on:

Well, it's back again!!!

For a while it went away... then when it came back I could reboot and it would be gone. Have rebooted more times than I can count.

NOW it is back PERMANENTLY!!!

Rebooting makes no difference.

The message "scvhost.exe has been terminated because it was deemed harmful by Active Virus Control." appears twice every miniutes, just on and off and cycles continuously.

Can't tell you how annoying it is to have your eye drawn to it constantly while working on my computer. Getting latest updates? Useless.

PLEASE help me. I really feel I've wasted my money on BitDefender and should have gone elsewhere. Too much to ask for a refund?

"Active Virus Control" is defintely a part of BitDefender. Can this part be disabled without danger, or can something be added as an exception or something. Since this is not a virus, if I could just somehow tell it to STOP - and get on with other potential problems.

Please any help.

If this is not the case, can I try using this paid program on my laptop. Maybe it won't have a problem on my laptop. Then I would find an alternative that will do the job on this computer. Suggestions are welcome.

Will the program install OK on my laptop or will there be a problem. Oh dear, don't get the any wrong ideas that I am trying to score something for free - not worth all this &%$@$ - it will only be installed on one computer.

Again, please help.

Also clarify for what you are asking "svchost.exe" or "scvhost.exe"? Both are different things but you mixed up them in your post.

If you managed to locate the said file, try to scan from "www.virustotal.com". You are also recommend to perform Deep System Scan with Bitdefender. Also what is your AVC settings?

I think I have fixed it. Went into Options etc and when Advanced Settings a requestor popped up - would I recognise svchost.exe and it showed author of the file was MS and click here to remember.

Then it stopped.
