Computer Running Very Slow

I purchased BitDefender Total Security 2011 and have installed it on my computer. My computer is now running very slow and takes ages for pages to load. Previously I was running AVG free edition and before that AVG paid subscription. Before installing botdefender I removed both AVG products from add/remove programs. Please tell me what I should do in order to get my computer running at normal speed once again.

Try disabling components you don't need. For me, Internet browsing became faster after disabling search advisor and anti phishing. Perform a full scan so that Bitdefender whitelists known harmless files. I have also disabled anti spam, Privacy control & parental control as I don't need them. Set your option to expert view to get these settings.

If these things don't help, also run AVG removal tool. You can download from here. Restart system.

Create a system restore point before running AVG removal tool.
