Cannot Remove, Disinfect Etc Blocked Virus: Gen:trojan.heur.fu.gqz@aa4dxme

I have just started received a BitDefender Antivirus Alert. BitDefender has blocked a virus!

Virus name: Gen:Trojan.Heur.FU.GqZ@aa4DxMe

Access by: svchost

Location: c:\windows\softwaredistribution\datastore\logs\tmp.edb

BitDefender could not disinfect, delete or quarantine this item. Access to the object has been denied

I was just wondering what I should do about this?

I don't believe I've installed any applications recently so I'm not sure what could be causing it.

Is anyone else having this problem?

How do I eliminate this issue?

Hi Thompson,

Because the removal procedure is quite simple I will post it here.

1. Temporarily disable the Real Time Protection in BitDefender.

[For this you need to go in your BitDefender and depending on the version you need to switch the interface to either Expert Mode or Advanced Mode.

Next,from the left menu go to Antivirus and under the Shield tab you will notice: Real Time Protection

Uncheck the box to disable it for a limited time.]

2. In Windows open the Run box (Ctrl+R)

Type in: services.msc followed by OK or Enter.

3. In the Services window locate the "Windows Update" service and the "Windows Search" service, right click on the entries one at a time and choose "Restart" from the dropdown menu;

4. Enable back the Real Time Protection in BitDefender and run a scan to make sure everything is OK.

I get the same message...

This is clearly being detected via Heuristics ... hence the .heur. in the name.

This was detected in a pretty fresh install of Windows 7 x64 which had BitDefender installed on it almost instantly after the initial OS install. [Virus then detected] After installing a few Microsoft (original) apps and performing the updates.

Question: Is this not simply some function of Windows Update or similar that is being false positively identified as a virus?

This solution is for windows 7, in windows xp these services are not available. Kindly update as per windows XP
