Dashboard Runs No Virus Scan Run Even After Completing Scan

I am running Bitdefender Total Security 2011 on Windows 7 x64, and have run into an odd issue today.

The dashboard displays the warning: "This PC was scanned for viruses 15 days ago", which is untrue, as I ran a deep and full scan on it about a week ago.

Also, when I go into Antivirus, it shows the last run for Deep Scan as "never".

When I then run a Deep Scan, the virus scan executes for a few minutes, then shows it has completed far sooner than usual (a deep scan has never taken a handful of minutes for me before). After the scan, the warning on the dashboard briefly goes away, then within a couple of minutes, reappears, telling me again that the system has not been scanned in 15 days. The antivirus panel still shows Deep Scan status as having been run "never".

Of note, this didn't start happening until Bitdefender crashed on me after waking from hibernation earlier this morning.

I use BD IS 2011 and XP SP3, so the system is a bit different from yours.

I had so much trouble in the past with hibernation process that I never use it!

A connoisseur of Windows Seven could answer soon.

What you could do is to repair the soft. (start program Bitdefender repair/remove repair...)

... or simply start again the computer, the quickest operation to do... just to check.

Maybe it will fix the problem with the hibernation status?

Rebooting didn't help, but it appears running the repair may have.

Immediately after the repair and subsequent required reboot, it repeated the message about the deep scan, but this time I was able to fully run it, and it took more the time I usually expect it to take. Since running the deep scan, the message -- at least on the dashboard itself -- has disappeared, though my bitdefender icon still shows a "!" over it in the taskbar with "1 issue is affecting the security of this PC". Odd.

However, now that the deep scan actually fully completed, it reported this:

File: C:\Users\James\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\6.0\15\370b200f-597d90a3=>bpac/b.class Java.Trojan.Downloader.OpenConnection.AI Infected

File: C:\Users\James\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\6.0\15\370b200f-597d90a3=>bpac/a.class Java.Trojan.Downloader.OpenConnection.AI Infected

Both were resolved by the scan.

So now if just that "!" will go away, things will then be back to normal.

...and rebooting again cleared the "1". So far so good.

Well, You may never get the help you are seeking. I have been a "happy" BitDefender customer for several years without incident. However five or six months ago my Bit Defender product began giving me trouble. I have experienced EXTREME difficulty getting my issue straightened out. I have been communicating with Christian Radcu regarding the problem I have been having with my product.(ticket ID 201011051003181, 201011041000791 and 201008261010401) One of the problems I was having was with viruses attacking my computer that BitDefender did not find nor remove/quarantine. I had to take my computer to the shop numerous times last year to have viruses removed that BitDefender should have removed. My recent problem is that everytime I try to run a scan, my computer freezes or crashes. In addition to this, I am experiencing the exact same problem that you are having. I sent BitDefender the name of four trojans that I identified on my computer and they recommended that I go to another website and download something called registreset.exe. This did not remove the trojans nor fix my problem. This year, I was not going to renew my product because of the trouble that I was having. He convinced me that if I purchased the 2011 product my issue would be resolved. IT WAS NOT! He then convinced me that if I purchased the back-up/rescue disk it would resolve my problem. IT HAS NOT! I requested a refund. He has continously ignored my requests for a refund and has kept me hanging on for several months. Response to e-mails to him are EXCEPTIONALLY SLOW or nonexistant. Several e-mails requesting help were never replied to. AT THIS POINT I WILL NOT BE RENEWING MY SUBSCRIPTION for 2012 AND WOULD NOT RECOMMEND BITDEFENDER FOR ANYONE. Here I sit with a product that has not worked in over six months, the company has not been able to fix it, and they refuse to honor my request for a refund. Ocassionally I get a response that appears to indicate that he is trying to help, however it appears to me that this may be a smoke screen. DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON AT BITDEFENDER? Does anyone know who to contact and/or how to contact someone at BitDefender that can/will resolve these kind of issues?

@RalphC, we kind of get your frustration of what you're going through, but your copying/pasting your frustration post on 4 threads now is getting to be a bit much, and really isn't helping to solve the issues posted on these threads.

I do not understand why you're sharing your complaint here. As stated in my previous post, my issue is thus far fully resolved.

In your case, I would recommend going to a third party tech forum to get assistance, something I used to do often in my early days as a techie myself. There are some third party freeware apps you can run to assist you in finding these pesky infections that apparently aren't going away easily. In my case, I'm partly to blame myself, as I really haven't gone enough out of the way to lock my browsers down better (slaps self on wrist). Unfortunately, *NO* antivirus solution is perfect and 100% reliable, so you always need to do some extra work to ensure the best security possible, which means running a variety of security programs and never relying too much on one software package.

I agree with you, a second opinion by a free 3rd party like app. like Superantispyware, or Malwarebytes, never hurts, especially since the free versions are not real time scanners, and thus will not conflict with B.D. when it's (B.D.) Real Time Protection is disabled during those scans (being offline as well while Real Time is disabled)

columbo: no more off topic posting please. I understood the case with Ralph however don't push it Please read the Forum Rules. Regarding the safeness of the Antivirus solutions I believe that no extra work is required just a little attention and not to download just anything from any website. Chaotic browsing will get you infected quite easily especially if visiting pr0n websites or warez.

RalphC: warned +10% and posting abilities disabled for 7 days. As I have already explained you in other topics, the issue you encounter was because of your own fault, getting your PC infected. As far as I know you are working on it with one of the colleagues from the Malware team. Please stop spamming otherwise I will have no other way than ban you from the forums.
