Bit Defender 2011 Real Time Protection Is Disabled [resolved]

Hi,

I have read forum rules and used the search button, but I cannot see anything identical to what I am asking. I will try to adhere to rules.

Product with issue:

  • Bit Defender Anti Virus Pro 2011

System information:

  • Operating System = Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit (6.1 build 7600)
  • Motherboard = NForce 780i
  • Processor = Intel® core 2 Quad Q9450 2.66GHz
  • Ram = 4 GB
  • Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260

Programs used for secruity:

  • Bit defender Anti Virus Pro 2011 update this on a daily basis - cannot see how to view current version, sorry.
  • Malware Bytes (always update before use) Version 5376 currently.
  • CC Cleaner Version 3.01.1327 - Latest

Brief description of how the problem occurred or seemed to occur:

Upon restart windows 7 informed me that it failed to start so I ran the repair solution and choose to restore when prompted. Since logging on I've been unable to activate the real time protection.

Solutions I have tried:

Using the action centre on windows 7 I have tried to enable the program, I get no error messages but it will not turn on. Using the program itself I click the "view all issues" button and the issue with the real time protection is selected, so I press start button, but the status is always failed.

----

I don't want to try to much without asking for help because I am, well, accident prone.

Thank you for your assistance, I look forward to your reply.

Regards, John

  • @John - thank you for providing such complete information about your PC, it's configuration and the problem you are experiencing. :) I wish more posters would follow your example.

How long have you had BDAV 2011 installed? Is this a relatively new install or has BDAV 2011 been installed for a while and just suddenly started acting up?

First, I would recommend you run the BD Repair function - Start-->All Programs-->BitDefender 2011-->Repair or Remove and follow the on-screen instruction to do a repair. Reboot the PC and see if the problem is resolved.

    Awaiting your reply,

  • Hi Nikki,

Thanks you for your help with this, it appears to have solved the problem. :)

In regards to your question about the installation, I have been using the product for around 20 days, but I purchased Windows 7 just over a week ago and installed it, so the installation is fairly new.

I have also checked for updates since the solution and all is still fine.

    Thanks again, regards John

  • Glad that worked for you, John. :)

I'll consider your problem resolved and close this topic. Please feel free to start a new topic if any other issue should arise.

    Happy Holidays,
