  • The issue with pchooklaunch has been fixed in the latest build. See this pinned topic.

Check to see that you have the latest build (14.0.24.337) by right-clicking on the BD icon in the Windows System Tray and then select 'About.' If you don't have this build, right-click on the BD icon in the Windows System Tray again, but this time select 'Update Now.'

    Hope this helps.

Nope. I have build 14.0.24.337 on both Vista32 and Win7x64, and both continue to produce this error with the latest build.

  • The next time you experience the problem on either PC, follow the procedure below to send a new set(s) of log files to BD tech support for evaluation:

    1. First please unplug the Internet cable from your computer or disable the Wireless adaptor if you are using one. This prevents the supporttools files from being automatically uploaded.

    2. Click on Start and then choose My Computer/Computer.

    3. Browse to:

    C:\Program Files\BitDefender\BitDefender 2011

    - considering that BitDefender was installed on the default C partition

    4. Double-click on the supporttool.exe file - if you are using Vista or Windows 7, right-click on the supporttool application file and select Run as Administrator

    5. Click on Next, wait a few minutes for the progress bar to complete and then click on Finish

    6. A file will be created on your desktop. Please move it to a location of your choice (i.e. move it on your c:\ drive)

    7. Reconnect your internet cable (only after you have moved the file to the new location)

    8. Upload the created file HERE

    9. Include a detailed description of the issue you are encountering and a screenshot of the error message, if there is one.

    10. Send a PM (Private Message) with the download link to DanyDan of tech support. Include a link to this topic and give him as much detail as possible about your PC - exact symptoms, hardware (CPU type/speed, Memory installed, etc.), OS and version, 32-bit or 64-bit, any other security software installed or previously uninstalled. Any other relevant configuration information.

It may take several days for them to analyze the files and respond depending on their workload, so please be patient.

  • Hello Wherdgo,

Please go to the following location in your PC (assuming BitDefender is installed on the default partition C):

    C:\Program Files\BitDefender\BitDefender 2011

Tell the file version for these 2 files:

    - pchook32.dll

    - pchooklaunch32.exe

To check the file version you can right click on each file and select Properties. There go to Details and check its version.

I have the same error message as shown in the screenshot by iazam, saying pchooklaunch64.exe crashed and needs to be closed. It happend a couple of times in the last few hours and gets a little bit annoying. I hope to find a solution on this forum, so that this problem can be solved!

  • oops, I guess somebody didn't double-check that it was fixed because I have that latest build 14.0.23.337 and I just got this error, AGAIN. I get it on two different computers.

One has to double-think about renewing for future products considering the slowness at which you have addressed this problem. This has been going on for months.

  • I have downloaded de newest bitdefender last monday, and that was 14.0.24.330, and it also has the problem. So indeed, as et1123 says, it is not as fixed as we would all like it to be.

  • still crashing exactly like before. <img class=" />

The latest build is 14.0.26.337 as posted in this topic. Note that due to an error, this build number is incorrectly displayed as 14.0.24.337 when right-clicking on the BD icon in the Windows System Tray and selecting About.

    Regards,

  • Is that also the latest version in Dutch? And do I get the newer version by updating?
