Ieexplorer.exe Has Been Terminated By Active Virus Control

Options

I just upgraded to Bitdefender 2011 from 2010. I get an error when I hit Internet Explorer icon. It says "ieexplorer.exe has been terminated by Active Virus Control". What can I do to start the ie explorer browser? Also Windows Update is not working

thanks. I am new to this forum. How do I get to BD2011 forum page?

  • No problem. :) from the main page http://forum.bitdefender.com/ click on the Home & Home Office Protection link. All of the various forums will be listed. The 2011 forum is 2nd down from the top.

Please note that the Windows Internet Explorer executable is named iexplorer.exe, not ieexplorer.exe, and what you are dealing with is most probably a malicious application.

    Regards,

It is not a virus. I found a soln in the BD forum here. I added iexplorer.exe to the Exclusion list in BD 2011 and IE Explorer is now launching properly.

I am still having problem with Windows Update though for XP. It won't launch on it's own, but I can do the windows update from inside BD 2011 under Vulnerability Scan.
