Hello,
I ran mbrfix per the instructions I received from BD. These instructions included directions to disable real time protection and then to run the appropriate .bat file. (I was trying to get rid of a root kit virus that bd could not remove, even running in safe mode).
It was not mentioned to me in the instructions that the possible repercussions of this actions included the complete destruction of both the master boot record and the mbr backup!
Now my operating system is not recognized, nor is my hard drive. (I was running Vista 32 bit).
I have tried numerous MBR fixes with no luck, I'm afraid I will have to wipe it clean with fresh install - not ideal. If I was told that this was a possibility then I would have backup up the master boot records without a doubt.
Any advice from this point? I'm not concerned with the data, I just had quite a few apps installed and it will take awhile to get the new install up to a point that I can continue my work. Not to mention the countless windows updates.
Thanks for any input.
Nathan
