I got a serious warning from a website that looked a lot like the hoax that was on the net several years ago: A warning that my system was infected with hundreds of threats, trojans, worms you name it. I needed to remove them asap, I only had to click to do so and run a free systems check. The messages looked alot like legit Windows messages.
I immediately launched a Bitdefender Total Security Deep Systems scan. Internet Explorer froze on me: I couldn't close it and could not get rid of the warnings that my pc was infected.
The scan found 12 infections and removed them: all tracking cookies.
But for the first time I noticed how many items were skipped during scanning: more than 43,000. Is that normal?
When the scan completed, I rebooted the system and ran another scan. That scan found no infections, was done quicker and skipped even more items: over 100,000 this time. The 3rd scan skipped over 200,000 items.
What is it with these skipped items, are they a cause for concern?
Can I trust my system to be free of infection since Deep Systems scan finds nothing anymore, although skipping more and more items?
Thanks for any reply or input, I'm really sort of a digilliterate
