Rootkit Virus, Ie And Firefox Blocked

I bought BitDefender yesterday. Scan found many viruses and fixed them. I still have two issues:

1) It loads desktop but I cannot open IE or firefox. it says

"explorer.exe Has Been Terminated because it was deemed harmful by active virus control"

2) I have some rootkit virus which is not being removed

Pls help!

Hello vinayuser and welcome to BitDefender Support Forum.

First of all, please update BitDefender 2011:

After this you will need to bring up the BitDefender interface (either doubleclick on the BitDefender tray icon in the systray or doubleclick on the BitDefender

shortcut on your desktop). Switch the user interface to Expert Mode so that we can have easy access to all BitDefender modules.

Then:

1. Go to the Antivirus module > click on Advanced settings > uncheck the "Active Virus Control is enabled" option, click OK to save the changes and then check if the issue with IE or Firefox still occurs;

2. If it does, go to Virus Scan tab > right click on Full System Scan > choose Properties > click on Custom and uncheck the "Scan inside archives" option > then click OK to save the changes. Start the Full System scan and check if it completes successfully;

3. Could you note down the location and the name of the rootkit ?
