How Do You Know If A Scan Has Been Done?
Does this new product scan automatically? If so when does it do it?
And does it create logs to let you know what if anything it caught?
I hope that you change it / add to it the possibility of scheduling your own scans as was in previous products.
It also used to show that it was scanning incoming emails ,, i don't see that now and there have been a few emails that 2011 used to catch with virus's in them , from a common subject lined email , and a couple of those have come through , but BD hasn't shown that it caught anything or that it was even scanned.
I'm glad i didn't go out and buy this years product and can go back to 2011 ,, which i think might be very soon as i'm tired of all the things that 2012 is doing to my system.

It does scan automatically, but it doesn't log it, which makes sense because it's during every microseconds of idle time, but yeah, I already complained that there should be some indicator, for instance to see that your system has been scanned at 80% already.
An error message reminds you that you are still required to scan manually at least once a week, even though auto scan is enabled, so apparently auto scan does not do the same things as a full system scan and I don't trust what I can't understand. Plus you can't schedule scans anymore.
Note that you can upgrade to 2012 for free if you already have the 2011 version. Not sure it's worth it though.
The worst is the Firefox toolbar that overlaps part of the web pages' content.0 -
Hi Gord,
The scheduled tasks were added as a feature request and we are working on finding a way to implement it ASAP.
Indeed you are not notified when the PC is scanned however, considering the new technology used in the new 2012 version, this is explicable.
You can also check the Events >>> Antivirus for notifications and to check if an infected file was found. Use the EICAR test file to do that:
http://www.eicar.org/85-0-Download.html
Try to download the zip test file and you will see if the real time protection is working or not. Also a notification will be posted in the Events page.
You will see a message from the Real Time Protection when trying to access the download page for the "infected" sample:STOP! Bitdefender blocked this web page.
The page you are trying to access contains malware.
Details:
Web Page: http://www.eicar.org/download/eicar.com.txt
Detected viruses: EICAR-Test-File (not a virus)

Take me back to safety
Also if you did however managed to download an infected file, then, upon scanning it, BitDefender will notify you in the Events page, as shown in the screenshot below:0
