Email Scans In Custom Mode
Hi all
I've just installed BD 2012 (updated from 2011) and truied to set up the custom mode for Anti-virus.
I get the options window and tick the boxes for "Scan Outgoing e-mails" and "Scan incomming e-mails" and click "OK". However, when I check what's set, these two have become unselected.
Help please
Andy

Hello,
What BitDefender product are you using and what Operating System (Windows) ?
Open BitDefender Security Center and go to Antivirus settings. There click on the Default button then close the GUI. Reopen it and check to see if the settings are enabled or disabled. By default these 2 options should be enabled.
Do you have any other security solutions installed ? What installation kit you used to upgrade to 2012 ? Have you uninstall the 2011 version using our Uninstall tool or installed 2012 over 2011 ?0 -

Hi
It's BD Antivirus plus 2012 (Hence my posting on this particular forum). OS is Windows XP
Tried opening the Antivirus setting screen and setting the scan manually in Custom Settings. Tried with default button. Same problem. After a couple of closes and "shows" of BD, it then, for no apparent reason, has set the e-mail scan to on.
I did have SpySweeper running OK with BD 2011 for a year with no problems. I've stopped that running with no real effect to the problems I'm having with BD.
On re-newing my BD Subscription and changing to BD2012 is when the problems started. I uninstalled 2011 using the BD Tool. I downloaded BD2012 installation as part of renewal process and got a new product code.
That's not the only problem I've got with BD. I keep getting "VSSERV.exe Unknown S'ware exception 0xc0000409 occurred in the application at loc - - -"
So I run the BD repair tool. No joy. So I uninstall and reinstall BD completely - takes a long time ! It then works, with the e-mail scan problem, which then cures itself, for a short time and then - at some point - I get a complete "lock-up". Can't close any application that's open or turn off the computer using Windows tools, so I have to "kill" the computer using the off button.
On restarting, I get the vsserv.exe exception and it's roun the maypole again.
I'm getting no real joy from an open ticket with the BD Dervice Team and am starting to lose the will to live. I'm just about ready to call it quits and get my 30day refund.0 -

Please post that ticket number so DanyDan can research it. Should save you both some time in resolving your issue.

Hello,
You had the following software installed on the PC:
- Rapport
- Spy Sweeper
- Spybot - Search & Destroy
The behavior you described is somehow understandable as you run multiple security solution on the same PC.Besides which, you still haven't offered a plausible explanation why BD2012
Antivirus cannot run with Spy Sweeper when BD2011 Antivirus could.
- it can't run with SpySweeper because the 2012 version is using a new and more complex "Real Time Protection" scanning process, a process that is scanning your PC over and over again through the "Auto Scan" feature. At the moment, BD is working and I have no problems (yet). However, experiences shows that BD2012 Antivirus is not robust and that it may, when the computer is switched off and then on, require to be uninstalled and reinstalled to restore correct operation.
- the reason why you encountered this issue was again due to the other security solutions you had installed on the same PC.
