Auto Scan Reports It's Both On & Off At Same Time

Options

On my 3 XP Pro SP3 machines I have the same issue regarding "AutoScan". All 3 in the system tray icon show there are multiple issues to fix...but when clicking 'fix' there is only one:

"AutoSan is disabled"

However as the attached jpegs show...the control panel shows all is fine...even tho the "fix issues" windows says "failed"

My Win 7 Pro 64bit machine is fine...just these three XP machines have this issue...looked for over 10 minutes trying to find current build...etc but to can't find this info in 2012 contol panel

All Game mode settings are off.

Well...yes and no. I have found on the XP machines if I disable "Autopilot" and do a rebuild repair option...most of the time the "auto scan is disabled" issue goes away.

At Least however for the session with the XP machines. After a reboot or two...the same issue is back...usually another repair session corrects it again...until the next re-boot.

Same exact issue and behavior on 2 XP SP3 Home Editions and one XP SP3 Pro systems !!??

Obviously something in BDIS2011 does not play well with XP ?

Strangely...my Win 7 Pro 64 bit machine is running flawlessly with BDIS2011. However...with 2011 the XP machines for the most part ran fine...it was my main Win 7 Pro 64bit machine that had the issues.

I'm going to guess that there is something left over from 2011 in my XP machine/registries that is causing the autoscan issue in these machines with 2012.

Next step is to clean one XP machine ( & registry) manually and try a clean re-install ?

Will let you know what happens....

Even at below minimum wage...Bitdefender should be paying Me rather than Me paying to renew the 5 machine 2012 license considering the enormous amount of hours...yes...hours trying to get BDIS 2012 to work on my machines.

When available...tech support (ie. DannyDan) has been really great...just not enough of them to go around...

Thanks...I noted the tilte of one of the PC folders I sent. It is BDSP_HOME_DESKTOP_2011_12_03_13_50 I either mis-named this or it is my main desktop which is NOT an XP machine. It is a Win 7 Pro 64 bit machine that IS working fine.

Tried to find the machine type in the logs but couldn't.

Disregard this log if it is for "Home_Desktop" - Windows 7 Pro 64 bit...!!...my issues are only with my 3 XP based machines only...2 laptops and one desktop...all running XP SP 3

    Hello guys.

    Sorry for the delayed reply.

I have some fresh information for you. I now can tell you for sure(after log analysis) that Auto Scan is turned on on all the systems.

That warning is like a "false positive" - a miscommunication between the seccenter(the main interface) and the Auto Scan module.

After all those tests, this information was forwarded to our Developers. They should fix it really soon.

Please tell me if you still encounter this issue with Auto Pilot on(switch it on-off-on).

    Thank you.

  • Hi Christian,

After updating Bitdefender internet security 2012 to 15.0.36.1530, I still encountered this issue as Sathya posted before:

Today I got a messge on the home screen stating "Some issues require your attention. There is one issue to fix". When I click on the message, I got a dialog stating "Autoscan is disabled. Your computer is at risk". I selected the row and pressed <Start>; it is failed. I restarted the machine the status and result persist.

My PC with Win XP SP3 has this issue. And another PC with Win7 is fine.

Could you help check it? Thanks.
