Bdav2012 Incompatible With Sua Under Windows 7 X64

Sorry, my English is very very poor.

If your Windows 7 x64 is already installed SUA (Subsystem for UNIX-based

Applications), you should never try to update to BDAV2012.

If you installed BDAV2012 under that system, after reboot it will hold you on Windows LOGO screen and cannot boot into Desktop.

Last night I report this situation to Bitdefender, and guess what's the answer?

"Please buy Bitdefender for unix".

THAT IS REALLY MAKE SENCE!!

Below is for those guy who do know nothing about SFU / SUA:

Windows Service for UNIX (SFU) or Subsystem for UNIX-based Applications (SUA) is a software package produced by Microsoft which provides a Unix subsystem and other parts of a full Unix environment on Windows.

Thank you very moch.

  • Hi and welcome to our forums.

    You've mentioned that you contact us last night. Could you please provide me your ticket ID?

    So you have Bitdefender Antivirus 2012 installed under Windows 7 and you can not start SUA? Do you have Service Pack 1 installed?

    Or do you have SUA installed and after installing Bitdefender 2012 you are unable to start your machine?

    Thank you.

    OK, The story is here.

    First time:

    I update my Windows 7 x64 to SP1, and installed SUA x64 for several month ago.

    All work fine with BDAV 2011.

    Someday ago my BDAV 2011 is out of date, so I purchased BDAV2012.

    After install BDAV2012, it will ask for reboot, so I make it reboot.

    And my Windows 7 never show desktop again, it is stop under windows logo screen.

    I just think maybe something is going wrong, so I Re-install my Windows 7 with SP1.

    Second time:

    After my Windows 7 with SP1 is installed. I install BDAV 2012 again. Good, no any problem.

    So I slowly re-installed many software to rebuild my working environment. Everything is so far so good.

    three days ago, I re-installed SUA x64 and reboot, that windows logo screen situation is come again!

    So I am pretty sure what caused the problem now.

    SUA was part of windows 7, BDAV2012 was born in 2011, so the answer is very clear.

    Who's the younger one, who's the problem maker.

    That's all.

  • Hello,

    In order to further investigate this issue, we will first need to set the BitDefender Update on Prompt so the changes will not be reverted upon auto updating. Please follow the steps below:

    1. Set the BitDefender Updates on prompt;

    2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode.

    4. Browse to:

    C:\Windows\System32\drivers folder.

    5. Locate the file "avc3.sys"and rename it into "avc3.sy_";

    6. Restart the computer in Normal mode;

    7. Once the product will want to Update, please make sure to select only the "Signatures update" option and not the Product Update one, as that will replace the file you renamed in Safemode;

    8. Check if the issue still occurs.

    NOTE:

    If you are not seeing the file extensions please go to Start -> Control Panel -> Folder Options -> View tab -> uncheck the option "Hide extensions for known file types".

    [how to set BitDefender updates on prompt]

    - open BitDefender GUI;

    - click on 'Settings';

    - go to 'Update';

    - select 'Prompt before downloading';

    - click on 'Home';

    [How to restart in Safe Mode]

    - Restart the computer (Windows Start button - Turn Off - Restart);

    - Press the 'F8' key several times before Microsoft Windows begins to load; you need to press 'F8' until you will be displayed a text menu;

    - Select 'SAFE MODE' in the text menu and press 'Enter';

    - Wait while Windows loads in Safe Mode; this process ends with a confirmation message; click 'OK' to acknowledge.

    Please let us know if the above steps resolved the issue or it still persists.

    Looking forward to your answer! Take care.

    I tried your steps today.

    And I turned Antivirus protect to "disable forever".

    After several reboot and install sua process.

    It looks like work normally.

    Finally I tune ON Antivirus protect, and reboot again.

    Now all thing is going to be fine.

    Thanks.
