Java.exploit.cve-2010-0840.u What Is It? Can't Quarantine Or Delete

Just ran a Deep System Scan and Bitdefender detected Java.Exploit.CVE-2010-0840.U as a Threat (the only one). I tried to quarantine and it could not do it (move to Quarantine Failed). Also tried to delete it and it could not be deleted. And, Bitdefender will not let me progress beyond the next step. I'm hesitant to choose Ignore until I know more - thus my note here.

When I click on the item it opens a new Bitdefender window that says

Infected: C:\Documents and Settings\Nick\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\6.0\2ffcdc2-5c4274cd=>glass/lulux$1.class

However, when I drill down into the directory I see the files: ffcdc2-5c4274cd and ffcdc2-5c4274cd.idx.

Any thoughts on what to do from here would be most welcome. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

The archives or packed applications which are containing the infected files have to be deleted manually

Thank you for your reply. Please forgive my ignorance, are the infected file(s) the ones listed in my original note? And, are they the ones that need to be deleted? Again, thank you for your thoughts.

I am running BD Total Security 2010 - Ver 13.0.21. The license still has 233 days on it.

One other thing - when I go to the update tab and try to update, I get this warning message:

Update Process failed because an Antivirus scanning task is in process. It you want to update now, please stop the running scan process and try again.

In the current situation, you need to uninstall Oracle Java and upgrade to the latest version.

Please follow the steps from below:

1. Disable the REAL-TIME PROTECTION on Bitdefender 2010.

In order to disable the real-time protection please open Bitdefender, click the "Settings" button in the upper right side of the interface, Switch UI to "Advanced Mode", Click "OK"; Go to "Antivirus" > "Shield" and click on "Real-time protection is enabled", select the time interval that suites your troubleshooting needs and click "OK" (the message will change to "Real-time protection is disabled"). The real-time protection should be enabled after performing the troubleshooting procedure.

2. Clear Java cache:

3. Uninstall Java:

http://www.java.com/en/download/uninstall.jsp

4. Reboot.

5. Install the latest version of Java:

Good Morning Again Christian,

Just wanted to say performed all the steps as suggested earlier and it appears all is well. One minor flaw though, when installing Total Security, my license key did not autopopulate in the registration window. I had to manually retrieve and enter it. Just thought I'd let you know. BTW I've been a BD user since 2008 and really like the software - much better than the junk from competitors I have on my work machine. The new interface is pretty cool. Thanks again for all the support.
