Hello,
I could use some assistance. I usually run a full system scan every other day to keep my computer out of harm's way. Usually it will pick up some trojans here and there and tracing cookies. For a few weeks full scan kept saying that there is no issue which was strange because my computer was acting kind of erratic. (Slow, would get stuck, etc.) The other day my computer reset itself for no reason, so I ran a scan through command prompt in safe mode. It picked up something minor, but I was hoping that it was the problem. When I rebooted in regular mode, BitDefender popped up saying it found a bootkit virus "Pihar.D", but it was ignored because BitDefender didn't have administrator permission to delete, quarantine or disinfect it (I never got that message before). It said all I could do was scan again. I scanned again, and afterward I saw that BitDefender needed to reboot my system for an update. I reset my computer and that was the last time it worked. Now when I turn it on, after the Asus logo, it goes to a black screen with a flashing underscore in the top corner. I cannot go into Safe Mode, boot from disc or change the bios. If I push buttons, the computer makes a loud beep.
Unfortunately, I didn't back up my files, and some are irreplaceable. Is there a way I can eradicate this bootkit virus without wiping my PC? At least until I extract some files, then I would have no problem wiping it. But as it stands can my harddrive be saved?
By the way I'm running Windows 7 64bit.
Thank you in advance.
