[resolved] Autoscan On Off 54 Times In 24 Hours. Is This Normal?

I went into the main program today and saw 54 events with a red 54. I looked at the events and all of them were "Auto Scan settings changed." One in red the another in green All yesterday and today. Red "Auto scan is Off" Green "Autoscan was enabled." I have auto pilot off.

Is this normal? Why would Autoscan ever be disabled? I don't do games...or make changes disabling Autoscan.

    The Bitdefender_Supporttool stops at "Getting event logs..." and just sits... Going on two hours now. I assume this is not Normal behavior either... Suggestions?

  • Hello :)

    In this case, please try to run it in Safe Mode.

    [How to restart in SAFE MODE With Networking]

    - Restart the computer;

    - Press the "F8" key several times before Microsoft Windows begins to load; you need to press "F8" until you will be displayed a text menu;

    - Select "SAFE MODE With Networking"

    Send it over PM and I will analyze it for you.

    Take care.

    I tried running Bitdefender_Supporttool in safe mode with networking and no go. It stops at "Getting event logs..." and sits. After 10 minutes I gave up. So, are you saying this on/off thing is new and not yet addressed anywhere? Maybe the on/off is caused when the computer is idle or something?

    Hello :)

    In this case, let's try something else:

    Please follow the steps below and send me the generated log file:

    1. Download this file:

    http://www.bitdefender.com/files/Knowledge...ile/sysdump.exe

    2. Locate and open 'Sysdump.exe'

    3. A command prompt window will appear on your screen. Please note that the information gathering process can take several minutes therefore please wait until the window disappear by itself.

    4. The result will be the file called 'SYSDUMP.TAR'

    5. When you have the sysdump.tar please upload it HERE

    6. Send me a PM with the download link and one for the topic you started.

    Looking forward to your answer!

    Take care.

    The sysdump did work, however after today's update, it seems the problem was resolved. I'll give it a couple days and see if it repeats the alerts but so far today there are no new alerts.

    Hello :)

    Let's use another tool than.

    Please follow the steps below and send us the result:

    a ) Go to this page

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb963902.aspx and download the autoruns file.

    b ) Extract the contents of the downloaded file and run the 'autoruns.exe' file;

    c ) Wait for the list to be filled with all the processes and then make sure that you have the Everything tab selected in the upper part;

    d ) Click on the Disk icon right under File and chose any location folder on your computer;

    e ) Save the file with a specific name (your name, computer name, a random name, which one you want) and then send me a PM with it.

    If the file is too big to attach it, upload it on

    http://www.sendspace.com

    or

    http://www.mediafire.com

    and send me a PM with the download link.

    We will analyze the information you sent and then reply with a possible solution in the shortest time.

    Have a nice day.

  • Hi - I have just downloaded a free version for my Mac and have the same/similar problem - I started a scan and it did not stop for over 24 hours! Then I stopped it manually.... It keeps telling me that my computer has NOT been scanned, and each time I hit 'fix this issue' it goes off again, non stop. Sigh.....What to do? :wub:

    Hello Zannsue

    Welcome to the forums.

    First off all, you need to let the product scan the machine and after that the alert will be turned off automatically.

    Also, you issue is not related to this topic.

    Please create a new topic and post there.

    Thank you.

  • Hi Christian,

    It seems I still have the original problem though it seems it is the same issue as another thread I can't find right now. I get the alerts when ever I open VLC in full screen mode. You didn't post the solution directly in the forum and wonder if this issue will be fixed in future updates? If not, I would like to know the solution if possible.

    Thanks!
