Bdis2012 Custom Scan

Hi,

Custom Scan works only first time for a specific folder and after that when it scans again, skips all files even if "Scan only new and changed files" option is unchecked.

The same (but with less skipped files) happens with "Scan with BitDefender" right click option.

Is it only for me?

BDIS 2012 on Win 7 Ultimate 64bit.

Thank you

    Hello :)

    Welcome back.

    Could you please send me an Autoruns log too?

    Please follow the steps below and send me the result:

    a ) Go to this page

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb963902.aspx and download the autoruns file.

    b ) Extract the contents of the downloaded file and run the 'autoruns.exe' file;

    c ) Wait for the list to be filled with all the processes and then make sure that you have the Everything tab selected in the upper part;

    d ) Click on the Disk icon right under File and chose any location folder on your computer;

    e ) Save the file with a specific name (your name, computer name, a random name, which one you want) and then send me a PM with it.

    If the file is too big to attach it, upload it on

    http://www.sendspace.com

    or

    http://www.mediafire.com

    Hello :)

    Could you please upgrade to the latest build and recreate all the logs?

    I need to compare them with the old ones. Also, let me know if the situation is reproducing with .38 build.

    In order for the product update to be installed, you need to reboot your machine(you should see in the Events -> "Reboot required" under the Update module).

    Have a nice day.

  • Hi Christian,

    Now, as you can see in photo, it doesn't skip all files. Is that normal?

    But there is another strange thing. Auto update is on, events shows succeded update, postpone reboot is off and only when I manually updated (2 days after update release) asked me for a reboot and finally program updated to .38.

    Anyway I've already reproduced the logs and sent you the link via PM.

    Thank you

    Hello :)

    The behavior is normal regarding the product update and the reboot. We have implemented this because some of our customers don't stop they PCs over the night and some times no even once a month. :D

    A product update can only be installed during Windows Startup.

    Also, the engine has a Smart Cache that keeps a clean set(know files that are clean don't need to be scanned over and over again).

    In this way, the scan takes every time less than the previous.

    I will get back to you soon regarding the initial reported issue.

    Have a great weekend!

  • Hello Christian

    When "Postpone reboot" is OFF, reboot prompt must appears (I think), if there is a product update.

    My PC is rebooted at least twice a day and also remains closed (shut down) for some hours.

    For the "Smart Cache", I've read about, so after .38 update I think there is no issue with skipping files anymore.

    Thank you very very much :):)

    Have a nice spring weekend too!!!

    Hello :)

    I will anticipate your next question and complete my last answer: if one of the files that was stored in the Smart Cache is declared infected(via the engine through heuristics or by one of my colleagues from the antimalware labs that created a definition for it), the Smart Cache is automatically cleared with the signature update.

    So now worries, we have safety mechanisms to keep your data safe.

    Happy Holidays!
