Babylon Search On Internet Explorer
I am a new client of Bitdefender and have an ongoing issue with the Babylon search feature that has latched itself onto Internet Explorer. I am on Windows XP with IE 8.0.6.
I have followed threads on other sites and have got rid of the tool bar, and have just used Spybot, which picked up Babylon, and said it had removed the threat.
Guess what? Yes it is still there!
Has anyone actually found a way of getting it off their system totally? Not just hiding it?

Hello Colin
Welcome to the forums!
Babylon Toolbar is not considered a threat and if you install the programs more carefully you can avoid it.

Thank you Christian. Not considered a threat? By who??
It may not be a threat but it is a pain in the ######!
And your comment about installing more carefully, is now irrelevant. It is there and I, and many other people, would like to get rid of it.
So back to my question. How do you get rid of it , please!

Hi Colin
Welcome back!
Is not considered a threat because it doesn't drop malware in the PC and it is always embedded in valid software.
Have you tried this method to remove it?

Christian:
Glad to see you managed a proper reply (suggesting an actual solution). I have spent hours (well, wasted) of my time getting to this point on BitDefender 2013; a software which was so highly rated I decided to spend the money & not purchase Norton 360. Regret that now. Norton gives the user immediate search responses to any query. Bit Defender is something of a joke of a lame horse when putting in a query for help in the user interface of the actual small-window software.
Oh - BTW, WTF is it w/ the tiny little user I/F of BitDefender? Why can't I get full screen except in the log functions?
Well, never mind - I'm off to spend the next 8-10 hours backing up my hard drive, following the archaic instructions (worthy of MS-DOS troubleshooting days) to remove a piece of "Haunt-Ware" (Babylon) which fakes, tricks & snakes its way onto your hard-drive unless you are hyper-vigilant. That needs to be made illegal.0 -
