Excessive Full Scan Time
"BitDefender has a feature called SmartScan, which decreases the duration of the scan by adding clean files to a cache so that they will be skipped at the next scan if the files have not been accessed or modified in any way. If a file that is already present in the cache is accessed, then it will be removed from the cache.
The "Cache" created by Bitdefender is the same for all types of scans*, also for all the scanned files . Once you ran a scan, the clean files are moved to this Cache. Also, BitDefender is scanning all the files and processes accessed in real time. These are also added to the same cache if they are clean.
Only the clean files are moved to this Cache. When you will start a scan, BitDefender will first check this Cache in order to know what files it will skip. Also, once a file from the Cache is modified, it will automatically be removed from the cache list and BitDefender will scan it again in order to make sure the file is clean."
This does not seem to work - I run a full system scan daily which is noticeably slower than BD TS2012 which used to take around 40 minutes daily.
Today it scanned 1,364,830 items / Files per second 203 / Skipped items 82,494.
Total time taken
Saturday 1:48:30
Sunday 1:50:40
Monday 0:38:58
Today 1:52:01
There was no other use of the PC during the scan. This is VERY slow. I am also disappointed after all the comments after the release of 2012 that it is still not possible to schedule a regular full scan.

I've had a similiar problem to this as well..
I have a 600 GB hard drive and with TS 2013 scanning time has jumped up to 32+ hours for a single full system scan! Under TS 2011 it never took more than 5 hours at the most to scan the drive..0 -

Very acceptable 0:42:30 today but started off with this Critical error. Scan seemed to go on regardless.

Hello
A product update was released. Your build should be 16.18.0.1406(please right click on Bitdefender icon from system tray-near the clock-and choose "About". You should see in the left side the build number).
In order for the product update to be installed, you need to reboot your machine(you should see in the Events -> "Reboot required" under the Update module).

Have a nice day!
The scan time issue was resolved some time ago. Due to the on-going problems with BD PM system the zip file sent is now fairly old (11th July) - and I am on the current build.
The problem of having to reboot the machine after EVERY update has resurfaced though in the last few days (possibly new build release?). I know this occasionally is necessary but it is now constant.0 -
Hello
The issue with the update is also reproducing after reinstalling the product?

Thank you!
There have been four successful updates since re-loading BDTS - none of which have prompted a reboot, so hopefully this problem has gone away. However this happened before, an excessive number of reboots required vanished and then re-appeared a few days ago. I can't be sure but possibly re-appearing around the time of latest build update.
Another slightly odd (but not a problem as far as I know) feature today was that using BD2013_uninstall_tool.exe from elsewhere on the forum, did not seem to remove all of BDTS - the safepay desktop icon vanished, but the main BDTS icon remained as did the empty safebox folder. The removal seemed to run through the same options four times, each time a red X appeared against the "executing additional tools" function against a green tick for all other functions.
After re-installation BD prompted me to enter e-mail and password for MyBitdefender but refused to recognise the password. After clicking the Try Later (or whatever the skip function is called) it took me straight into MyBD.0 -
Hello
Thank you for your feedback!
Now, please reboot your PC and let me know if everything is OK.

Whatever tweaking has been done, has worked. A full system scan can now be completed in under 15 minutes.
There is a problem with Microsoft Office (the cut-down freebie version) which resides in protected area Q: on the disk. The scan always reports this as a threat and advises that I reboot in safe-mode. I can't be alone in this - should I make an exception for Q: or would this make it a potential weak point?
It would be nice to dispense with the "Your computer is not virus-free" dire warnings.0 -
Hello
The issue with ignored items was escalated to our developers.
As a workaround you can use this:

until the situation will be resolved via Automatic Updates.
Thank you!0
