I have trojan.patched.sirefef.b and have Bitdefender Total Security 2012. What do I need to do to get rid of this trojan? I am not as savvy as Laker2000.
Try downloading the latest updates for your bit defender, then run a full system scan. Save scan logs. Then try to download and run the ZeroAccess (Rootkit.Sirefef) scan tool. This Trojan mutates a lot, so it's possible that the scan tool will fail to detect or remove it. If it does find and remove the Trojan. Then I would suggest updating bit defender again, and running another thorough scan after rebooting. This Trojan was very hard to get rid of, and I'm still not sure it's gone from my system. It was really bad about re-spawning.
If updating and doing full scans and if the zero access scan tool doesn't find and remove the Trojan. Then Christian will have to help you. He will probably need the scan log. If you provide that information ASAP, it might help speed the process. Don't hold your breath.
