Bd Antivirus Scanner Has Encountered An Error

the last 3 system scans have produced the same error caption. The caption appears at 1-5 minutes left to go and the scan does not complete.

Caption says ... "Bitdefender Antivirus Scanner has encountered an error. If the problem persists please contact your local Bitdefender representative".

I am more than a little worried, please help.

  • I am experiencing the same problem. Every time I attempt a Full Scan, BD quits on the job. VSSERV.EXE error encountered

This may or may not be intertwined with other problems on post Trojan.html.phishbank.tzx, BitDefender Disinfection Failed -- these were problems that prompted BD support to suggest an upgrade to 2013 - and here I am now, unable to complete a scan in 2013.

Operating System: Windows XP, Service Pack 3

    System updates current

Last deep scan using 2009 8/31 was clean

I'd give you a log file if BD would complete the scan <img class=" />

I am now also experiencing the same problems, however, where it stops it still shows I have no infected files. Only happens on full scans, quick scan is fine.

I've been with BitDefender for 5 years and have not had trouble until this year, where this is the second time BitDefender has been a headache.

    Please advise.

  • Hello :)

A product update was released. Your build should be 16.20.0.1483(please right click on Bitdefender icon from system tray-near the clock-and choose "About". You should see in the left side the build number).

In order for the product update to be installed, you need to reboot your machine(you should see in the Events -> "Reboot required" under the Update module).

Let me know if the situation is solved.

    Have a nice day.

  • I also have this problem, i have the latest version of total security 2013 (i just bought it 2 days ago) it spent 9 hours doing a scan and it fails with the same error message as the guys above. Also tried in rescue mode and the scan didnt reach the end (when i came back to the PC it had a message about the antivirus service is not started but it was when i started the scan). I also now have a seperate issue where the bitdefender icon is not showing in the system tray any more. Please give me a fix for this issue as the program is useless to me so far (with one day of use) as it cannot complete a scan.

  • Just noticed that my error also came whilst scanning a file in the C:\windows\winsxs\amd64* as shown in the screenshot by the original poster... Mabey its an AMD64 bit problem as both of us have the same problem whilst scanning the same folder.

You can pretty much expect NO help. That has been my experience thus far.
