Possible Infection

Hi, this is my first post and any help would be greatly appreciated. :rolleyes:

My daughters laptop started generating a number of error messages yesterday including Bitdefender which is now constantly generating Crash Information File Logs.

The main error messages appear when the PC is booted up "C:\Windows\System32\WINTRUST.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error"

Various other error messages appear which include Bitdefender "Bitdefender Security Centre has encountered a critical error" the Crash Information file details "C:\Programdata\Bitdefender\Desktop|temp|BDCH_FJGFOKDBFFNGLIEPKPGMAODCLCMKNING_seccenter1353841891.dmp"

I have tried to use Windows Update to see if this would help with the system files but I get error messages when this option is selected and it wont allow Windows to update.

Various other reviews of the Internet imply this could be Malware infection. I did manage to undertake a full system scan using Bitdefender last night which found around 34 errors which appeared to be a variety of tracking Cookies.

Having looked at other posts I have undertaken a BDYS scan and uploaded it to Sendspace, I'm not sure if I'm supposed to post the link here or not so this is available if required.

As I noted above any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have followed your instructions but it has made no difference to the error messages being displayed. Is there anything else you can suggest?

In order to be able to properly identify the causes for the reported situation and find a solution we will need to investigate a bit deeper.

Please follow the steps below and send us the result:

a ) Go to this page

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb963902.aspx and download the autoruns file.

b ) Extract the contents of the downloaded file and run the 'autoruns.exe' file;

c ) Wait for the list to be filled with all the processes and then make sure that you have the Everything tab selected in the upper part;

d ) Click on the Disk icon right under File and chose any location folder on your computer;

e ) Save the file with a specific name (your name, computer name, a random name, which one you want) and then send me a PM with it.
