Is It A Risk To Run Apps And Surf Web With Autoscan Disabled?

I'm concerned / curious about exactly what happens if a system is running in "Laptop Mode" and something malicious is encountered.

For example:

What happens if a system encounters an infected application, download, or page with malware while Autoscan is disabled?

Does it go undetected until Laptop Mode is disabled and the machine is plugged in and goes back to Autopilot?

In Laptop Mode/Game Mode, the protection is not disabled. Only some resources like Automatic Update or Auto Scan are set to off.

This will not affect the overall protection of the system.

In Laptop Mode/Game Mode, the protection is not disabled. Only some resources like Automatic Update or Auto Scan are set to off.

I just tested this. I unplugged my laptop and BitDefender automatically switched to Laptop Mode. This turned off Auto-pilot, autoscan and the automatic updates. All fine, but the problem is when I plug the laptop back in. Automatic updates are reactivated, but Auto-pilot and autoscan are not reactivated!

I'm using BitDefender AntiVirus Plus 2013 (trial version) on Windows 8.

Thank you for your reply, Columbo. It's taking a while to address those issues, isn't it? One dates back to August, another to October...

I installed Bitdefender after reading the good reports on its virus detection, but some of the features are clearly a bit shaky. Autopilot is a great feature in theory, but it's rather annoying having to manually turn on the auto-pilot every time I plug my laptop back in!

I wonder if any representative here has an idea of when the above issues might get fixed?
