Not too helpful...?...when I 'wake' from standby/sleep in Win XP Pro 32bit SP3...the normal login in screen appears waiting for password...
However...there is quite a bit of disk activity while the login screen is sitting there waiting for password
Is all that disk activity Bitdefender's AutoScan...if not what could be causing all the activity on the HDD while no one is actually logged in on the desktop ?

Sorry for my previous...humoristic answer.
It's most possible for BD to have this activity but I'm not sure.
You can see in Windows "Event Viewer" about this.

Auto Scan will not run in Sleep /Standby Mode.
If you read this article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_mode you will know why a scan can not run in this mode.
