Unknown Undetected Redirect Bug.

I've picked up an unknown redirect bug that bitdefender isn't detecting or removing.

The redirect bug, redirects Google search results. When I click on a Google search result when I'm using Internet explorer, it redirects my browser when I try to click on the search result links.

I have Windows 7 64-bit. Bitdefender antivirus plus 2013

Hopefully bit defender log link will be PMed to Christian.

I have this exact same virus and my Bitdefender does not detect it either. I am running 2013 Internet Security.

Any help in eradicating this from my system would be most appreciated!!

I recently also had several blue screen of death stack dumps. It could be coincidence, but I'm suspicious that the stack dumps might be related.

Sometimes when I try to go to my computer, it takes a long time to display the files. So that has concerned that there might be some sort of other nefarious software activity.

How can I reset the Hosts file back to the default?

The path of the host file is "%SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts ", where "%SystemRoot%" is the drive where you installed Windows usually its C Drive.

In order to be able to properly identify the causes for the reported situation and find a solution we will need to investigate a bit deeper.

b ) Extract the contents of the downloaded file and run the 'autoruns.exe' file;

c ) Wait for the list to be filled with all the processes and then make sure that you have the Everything tab selected in the upper part;

d ) Click on the Disk icon right under File and chose any location folder on your computer;

e ) Save the file with a specific name (your name, computer name, a random name, which one you want) and then send me a PM with it.

I PMed Christian, a week ago, and haven't had a response. I PMed Cristi Raducu a few days ago, and sill haven't had a response from either of them.

Since I had to reinstall my netbook to factory. My desktop computer is still infected, and is getting worse.

Is there any support out there?

It's been over two weeks since I have had any response from bit defender. It's been over a month my computer has been infected with a redirect bug.

Has bit defender abandoned support of it's product? It sure seems like they have abandoned support of their product.

I don't know if it was related to an infection, but I had to replace the hard drive on my laptop/net book.

My knowledge about computers is very limited. I really don't know what they are talking about in the other thread.

My computer seems have been infected for several weeks, yet for several weeks I haven't had any response from bit defender support.

I'm worried about the security of my computer, because it seems to be infected with a browser hijacker (redirect bug), which makes me wonder if there are additional infections in my computer.

On my other computer I got a message that my hard drive had failed. I don't know if it was the fault of the hard drive or if it was the result of malicious software, or if it was the fault of bit defender. But the hard drive scan reports indicated that one or more of the sections of the hard drive that was failing, contained bit defender files. Since I've replaced the hard drive, I've ran that computer without bit defender and using other antivirus software, and so far it has worked flawlessly. The hard drive was two years old, so it may have been defective, but it was suspicious that the sectors that indicated bad, contained bit defender files. It also seems strange that the bit defender scans often skipped bit defender files. Perhaps there is good reason for but defender to skip its own files, but it raises my eyebrow.

My desktop Internet explore browser keeps on getting hijacked when I try to do Google searches, it often hijacks the browser to other search engines or advertising/marketing/sales sites. So far it hasn't affected my other browsers. However the computer often runs slow (temporarily stopped responding) especially when I'm trying to explore files. It gives me the impression that there are other programs running in the background and or something scanning my behavior and or files.

When I try to bring up the task manager I can't see anything I would consider suspicious programs. There still seems to be a lot of memory and CPU resources left, but nevertheless my computer is slow and freezes at times. It started to bog down and have BSD crashes, about the same time that apparently my computer seem to get infected with the browser hi Jack.

Get yourself a decent AV program. Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) is fine and it's free.

You should uninstall anything to do with BitDefender because it behaves like a trojan itself. You may have noticed the huge number of complaints in the BD forums and the complete lack of responses...

Bit defender has exhibited some behavior I would consider suspicious. Much like malware. However I'm not knowledgeable enough to know if it is malicious.

Sometimes it mysteriously goes off of autopilot to custom and lowers the security settings.

I think it is suspicious that the sectors of my hard drive that failed on my laptop, were bit defender folders.

I think it is suspicious, that bit defender skips its own files and partner files.

When I first got bit defender it seemed to work well. I think it is suspicious that I started having problems and getting infection warnings, when my bit defender was about to expire and bit defender started hijacking my browser trying to get me to renew. It's almost as if it was simulating or allowing infections to try scare a person into renewing.

I tried calling and chatting and e-mailing with bit defender several months ago, they told me they would get back with a solution, but they still haven't. Christian seemed to give me some good advice, but often it seemed like he was snow jobbing and or stonewalling.

I have removed bit defender and installed Microsoft Security Essentials. My system is running faster and more stable so far.

I'm skeptical that bit defender is fully/properly uninstalled. It never did execute additional tools. It took several tries before it terminated processes, deleted main registry keys, and deleted remaining registry values.
