What Is Exactly "trojan.generic.kdz.4865"?

Hello'

I update and scan my computer everyday and i currently use BitDefender TS 2013... Today it found several viruses all under the name of "trojan.generic.kdz.4865" after checking the log they were files that were in my computer since the year 2009... It was in all my back ups etc.

I wish i could upload a sample but it got deleted after scan... I am worried and i mean a lot worried so...

What exactly is and what does it do?

Here is a sample i found on an old laptop i used to work...

Is inside the folder is called minute.exe, there is 2 of them in the zipped archive one of them is infected.

Password is : bd

I found probably a remnant of a virus or maybe i am still infected and i contacted tech support.

I asked them if there is any steps that i need to take in order to insure my system is clean.

The best answer was: "Who told you about this" As long as bitdefender does not detected anything you are safe.

The file was located in AppData folder: Roaminguser_gensett.xml

I prefer someone from technical support answer me. TY

It is a shutdowner virus, well more of a joke than a virus, if you run it, it make your computer restart over and over again.

Nothing to be particularly worried about ...

Also @preguntonontrack please stop using the report to moderator link to get someone to answer, the guys at support are on it, it just takes some time to answer everyone as there are over 400 million customers that we at labs have to take care of, some things may take precedence.

Thanks for the answer. Two things:

First time i use the report thing and it was a legit report this guy makes a new account some days ago and starts replying nonsense and his last reply to me was kinda disrespectful to me and you guys... He assure your support was slow and bad with that comment. His responses in other topics are random and not true... Even if you were right and i was using it in a wrong way, you tell me in a private message or a warning, be professional...

Second thing, so if i open it, my system or accounts are safe? Also why your team discovered now after 4 years in my computer...???

In order for an antivirus company to add detection for a malware, the sample need to be analyzed by a virus researcher.

For example, if you create a new malware and keep it for yourself in an archive, that malware will have zero detection in the market because no antivirus company analyzed that samples. If in your code is something that uses other resources or injects something in a process, maybe that file will be detected by an heuristic routine or by Active Virus Control.

All companies are improving detections each day by creating new routines or new ways to detect malware.

TanLorik is one of our Virus Researchers and he already analyzed that sample and posted some details about it.
