I believe I got this by downloading a freeware from a reputable site but Bitdefender did not catch it. It changed my search engine and got into the system root. I had to use another software to delete it. Why didn't Bitdefender stop this Malware?
Hello
Conduit.com is not considered malicious, the software has EULA
http://www.conduit.com/legal/SoftwareInsta...ntegration.aspx
and is considered ad-supported (the user agreed with the terms and conditions). All the files are digitally signed.
This toolbar usually comes with freeware software and if you choose Custom install, it won't be installed on the system.
Thank you!

I run a computer repair business, use BD as my main AV but I cannot remain silent on this issue. The conduit, systweak, so called driver restore/support Internet helper, Optimizer family of products cannot be looked at as safe software anymore. How these companies acquired digital sigs and legitimacy is beyond anyone's knowledge. It is true that to install a user has to approve the software BUT there is NO argument that the way this happens is deceptive. The basic user only wants to surf the internet, email and pay bills NOT have their browser hijacked or annoying popups. I just want to say that I think BD's view on this family of products is a "the easy way out". Easy fix, just have a detection that pops up a warning telling customers " Bundled Installers can change Intenet settings" etc...The problem with this junk software is not the actual software but the deceptive nature of its installer.
