Turn Autoscan Off

Options

I am running BD 2013 Total Security. Everything seems OK, but it seems like everytime I turn on the computer, or leave the computer idle for a bit, I see a popup message in the lower right side of the screen telling me that Bitdefender is doing a scan. As soon as I move the mouse, the scan stops, but this almost constant scanning is starting to be a nusience. I am also concerned that this almost constant scanning will wear out the hard drive quicker ?? It is my understanding that I can turn off the AUTOSCAN feature, and still be totally protected. In other words the antivirus protection, Firewall etc, is still active and protecting the computer. Am I correct in this assumption ?? I do a FULL SYSTEM scan on a weekly basis. Thanks, Mike

    Hello Mike,

What you describe is absolutely normal. It's designed to work like this.

Turning "Autoscan" off, you are still protected and your hard drive, unlike you(us), is going to live for ever... :)

Kindly, read about how "Autoscan" works (concisely), here: http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?sho...st&p=180420 and have in mind that every time it starts scanning, it does not start from the beginning.

WERBY3--Thanks for the reply and info. I guess I will turn Autoscan back on, since there is no wear and tear being done to the hard drive. Mike

    Hello Mike,

Also, I believe that having "Autoscan" ON, weekly scan is not necessary, if you consider that Traffic scan, On-access scanning, Active Virus Control and Intrusion Detection System makes malware infection of your system almost impossible.
