Bd W8 Security And Diskmax
For those that have not heard about DiskMax it is another one of the many Windows cleaning and optimizing programs. One of the features it has is that it will optimize the Windows prefetch folder.
When I run the DiskMax Detailed Scan, which is my scan of choice for this software, I have the Detailed Scan set to automatically optimize the prefetch folder.
What is interesting is that near the end of the optimization process of the prefetch folder BD W8 Security starts an auto-scan of of the System drive; i.e. "C" In addition Windows Mainteance begins to run at this time. I have not asked DiskMax but I think this may be by design as part of their Detailed Scan. I say this becasue the BD W8 Security auto-scan comes up clean, unless I have some malware on the system drive. In addition Window maintenance begins running. There is no impact on DiskMax as a result of the BD W8 Security auto-scan; i.e. files being deleted or quarantined.
In anycase since I only run DiskMax when I am done using one of my network computers for the day I like the fact that BD W8 Security runs an auto-scan and Windows 8 runs its maintenance when I am done for the day and I run DiskMax. Even though BD W8 security has its own algorithm for running its auto-scan and I have Window maintenance scheduled to run daily I like the idea that both run as part of my last piece of daily maintenance on my W8 computers especially when it requires only one click of mouse to run all three: i.e., the DiskMax Detailed Scan, BD W8 Auto-Scan and Windows 8 maintenance.
