Active Virus Control

Hi,

I've registered here and posted on a thread from 2009 to say thanks to the friend that pointed out the problem was in 'active virus control' (controle de vírus ativo in portuguese). It happens that I had the same securom issue when launching Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY Edition through Steam. The error was:

If I turn off the option circled in red the game works, if I turn it on it doesn't and game doesn't even launch because somehow it forbids securom access to memory. It was not only preventing this game but also another game I have causing it to give a BEX error:

So I hope you guys from bitdefender find a way to fix this error because it's been almost 4 years and the same problem persists. When wil you fix it? Never? I've tried lots of things, even formatted my pc to no use. If I had known earlier it was only this causing all the trouble here...

The trose.exe was working fine until last sunday (28/04/2013). I guess some update broke this module and started preventing applications to access memory.

I do hope this thread helps someone out there.

I had/have a similar problem with Critter Chronicles.

Seems to be a general issue between BitDefender and many (if not all) SecuROM games.

You may, however, add a process exclusion ("Exclusoes") to your BitDefender settings - so you won't have to deactivate the Active Virus Control completely.

In my case, on Windows 8 Pro x64, the Event Viewer message is more explicit and clear:

Thanks for your reply but we did put the games executables into the exclusion list and it didn't work.

They only work when we turn it off. Weird isn't it?

Hmm funny ...

I can only offer a screenshot how I set the exclusion ... sorry for the German UI, I wrote English notes on it. You should be able to figure it out. So you can compare it to your settings. My first mistake was to put the exclusion under files and folders. But it has to be under process exclusions to be honored by Active Virus Control.

In case of Batman/other games you might have to take a look at the game directory - maybe there are other EXEs lurking around. But how knows. Maybe the exclusions don't work in all cases.

It looks like it has been a few months since the original poster started this thread and I can safely say the problem still exists.

The only way I can run Batman Arkham Asylum GOY Edition is to turn off the active virus control as stated above. I have added exclusions for every .exe file in the game directory and that did not work. I tried lowering the active virus control setting and that did not work. The only thing that seems to please SecuROM is to totally turn off Bitdefender active virus control.
