Full System Scan Crashes Anti-virus Service

I just bought and downloaded Bitdefender 2013 Family Pack, but have been unable to complete a full system scan after 3 attempts... lasting some 12 hours each! It's fine on my Macbook Air, only took less than 2 hours. The iMac though, absolutely frustrating.


It runs on Max OS 10.7.5, Intel Core i7 3.4 GHz, 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3


I was previously using Sophos Anti-Virus. I installed Bitdefender, then uninstalled Sophos using their Uninstaller, and then tried starting a full system scan.


I previously ran the Bitdefender online scan for Mac prior to purchasing Bitdefender and it said everything was fine. This is the only anti-virus software I have now running on my system and it's not done a full scan before, please help!

p.s. Just did a Quick Scan. Less than 6 mins, all clear
