I can't seem to easily find reference to this spyware on the Betdefender site. I have a Lenovo E430 notebook running Win7-64bit that my son accidentally installed this software onto about a week ago. It affected all 3 browsers installed - IE10, FF latest, and Chrome latest. I've tried removing manually and was unable to do so from IE and FF - seems to be gone in Chrome, but can't just live by Chrome alone.
I was previously running the MS Security Essentials product on there originally and it has been no use for this.
I purchased Bitdefender AV Plus in hopes it would detect and either remove/provide info on how to remove. It has not provided acknowledgement that this software is even installed on the system, even with a full scan. I can''t seem to find references to it on this site either.
I know there are debates about whether White Smoke is spyware, but I can tell you in my brief experience it cannot be removed easily and will not go away, slows my system down, and redirects all of my searches to somewhere OTHER than where I deliberately want to go. Maybe there is a new term that should be coined if people can't agree on this - annoyware..
Anyone have any experience with this nasty piece of software and maybe an automated way to get rid of it? If not, some sure ways to do it manually besides physically reinstalling the O/S?
Thx
